Fenland Fisheries
The Fenland Fisheries site was purchased in 1984 by the current owners in order to develop a fishery and aquatics business. Fenland Fisheries were pioneers of modern day specimen carp, having reared and stocked fish into many of the country's carp fisheries.
The lakes were originally created from mineral extraction in the 1980s and initially used for trout fishing. The current owners subsequently developed Fenland Fisheries into a popular and well known specimen carp fishery.
Willow Lake - Extending to 6 acres (2.4 Ha) with average depths of approximately 9 - 11ft, up to 18ft. The oldest lake on the complex.
Vermuyden Lake - Extending to 2.6 acres (1.06 Ha) with 13 swims and depths of between 3 - 12 ft. A highly stocked carp lake.
Ash Tree Pool 1 - Extending to 0.2 acres with 6 swims, average depths of approximately 10ft. A match lake stocked with mixed coarse fish species.
Ash Tree Pool 2 - Extending 0.41 acres, with 6 swims and an average depth of 4 ft. Stocked with mixed coarse fish species.
The fishery benefits from a 5ft high otter fence around the perimeter with high tensile steel wire and timber posts. The fishery car park is located next to the storage buildings, with ample parking.
Fish Stock
The Fenland Fisheries Strains of fish are well known throughout the country, the lakes are stocked with UK bred strains, including the fast-growing DOR-70 strain. Willow lake is stocked (of around 150 carp) are derived from the original stocking in 1988 of 1-2lb fish. Approximately 80% are over 20lbs and 25-30 fish over 30lbs, including four over 40lbs. Vermuyden lake is stocked with over 200 carp with fish to in excess of 30lbs. Ash Tree is stocked with approximately 150 carp. The Ash Tree Pools are stocked with mixed coarse species.
Fenland House
The entrance to Fenland Fisheries is via secure electronic access gates, onto the main drive, with the dwelling is situated on the right.
